so what does actually happen when you are going through your gallery and you see one of those ropefuel pics you took and you are like what the fuck why is it still there, you press on that delete button and you keep scrolling through the gallery so you can find that one rira edit you saved...how come even if you erase the trash and you think you deleted the file fully it is still in your fucking hard drive...the jews...

Deleting files in your machine is a pretty complex task from technical point of view, to delete 1GB file your computer needs to go through every single block of your drive sending a write and read instructions to everything. Actually erasing files by default would harm the performance even on your 3k pc your mama bought you now imagine what would happen to a pc 30 years ago if someone tried to delete a file on it. Therefore when you delete a file the space basically just gets marked as "AVAILABLE" instead of actually deleting the whole thing, your computer waits for another data to overwrite that actual physical space on your drive.

basically when you delete a file it doesnt get deleted it just gets marked as "DELETED" and gets unlisted from your file system, however it is still there and restoring that file is nothing.

hred is a program that was written in late 80s, the way it works it basically overwrites the file you want to permanently delete with 0s(reminder that when you delete a file it just waits for another file to write that address on your disk), by doing that shred makes sure that the physical address of the deleted file on your drive is overwritten, after overwriting it with 0s shred uses random number and word generator to overwrite the overwritten data again(in practice overwriting it once is enough for the file to never possibly be recoverable). When the cianiggers will try to restore that file, all they will see is just a fucking file full of random data.

based on the program you are you using, you can specify how many times you want SHRED to overwrite the file, on modern machine deleting 1gb file will take around 10 seconds but it depends on the write speed of your drive, if you are on a hard drive it will take longer.

if you are a windows cel and you are a brokecel aswell i have good news for you, erasing files permanently on ssd drives is a bit harder but still doable.
